January 2012 Pet of the Month

Basel and Rikka Pet of the Month November 2011 Willow

Her name is Willow and she will be 4 in June. She is a Miniature Dachshund. She's considered a Dapple Dachshund because of her speckled coat. Although rare, it's actually considered a birth defect. What we didn't know before we got her, was that Dapple's are actually more prone to medical conditions. Willow is epileptic. She suffers from seizures and has to take medication twice a day to help. But if you met her you would never know it. She's loving and sweet! She loves going to the park and running around in the fields. And she even has a boyfriend, Stewie who is also a Mini Dapple :). At night she likes to curl up under a warm blanket next to her sisters BB (a pug) and Cali (a ragamuffin kitten) :).

Riley Pet of the Month December 2011 December 2011

Riley

"Riley" is a 2 year old Miniature Blue Healer/ Rat Terrier Mix. I got him at 3 months old after my husband died of cancer.
He is as fast as lightning, extremely agile and exuberant to no end! He loves to run and chase his tennis ball when his owner or any other willing person will throw the ball with the "chucker". He is fond of his 3 cats, 4 chickens and 2 other dog pals Tango and Angus. Riley has an amazing ability to make you laugh; he is vocal when he is encouraging his mom to take him out for a run, or when it is time to go to the barn to take care of the horses. He is extremely happy when the squirrels come around for food, he'll chase them and partially climb a tree! He is very gentle and attentive and an excellent cuddle bug. If it wasn't for Riley , I would have not recovered from my loss. He is a true spirit!
Nuke Pet of the Month November 2011 November 2011

Nuke Pet of the Month October 2011 October 2011

Nuke

This is Nuke. He is a four year old American Pitt Bull Terrier. Nuke has been busy over the last two years working as a service dog for his companion who suffers from P.T.S.D (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder). He provides assistance in finding an exit when in a large crowd. Nuke lets his companion know when a room is safe. He is amazing in that he knows to wake up his companion whenever he senses he is having night terrors. Whenever Nuke is not taking care of his companion he enjoys the outdoors and playing with children. Is there anything Nuke can’t do? If so, it hsasn’t been revealed yet! Nuke, you are a beautiful boy and we are so proud of the way you take care of your companion. In our hearts you are the most deserving of October Pet of the Month. We love you Nuke!
Cana Pet of the Month September 2011 September 2011

Cana

Meet Cana, a 4 year-old long-haired Chihuahua whose personality is as cute as she is. She is a very loving, friendly little girl who lives in Gallatin, TN with her three sisters and caregivers Judy and Irish Downes. There are very few pups who are as patriotic as Cana (except for the pups who directly serve) who spends her time working with a chapter of Vietnam Veterans' Association. She helps raise funds to aid our veterans, the enlisted and their children. They call her "Command Sergeant Major". Well, your friends at Flying Basset salute you Cana. You most definitely deserve the title of Flying Basset Pet of the Month for September. We love you !
Duke Pet of the Month August 2011 August 2011

Duke

Congratulations to Duke who is our Flying Basset August Pet of the Month! Duke lives in Lolita, Texas and is quite obviously a Great Dane! He is a sweet boy with a very mellow, laid back personality. He is pictured here with his Uncle Brian who is in the Marines. Thank you for your service Brian. Duke's favorite spot is on his very own couch but loves visiting his many friends. He especially enjoys spending time with his friends at the nursing home. Now don't get the wrong idea about Duke. He isn't just a couch potato. He is quite agile and runs, jumps and plays fetch with his giant tennis ball! We love you Duke. You are a cutie. Enjoy your month of basking in the glory of FB August Pet of the Month.
Jada Pet of the Month June 2011 July 2011

Jada

Flying Basset would like to congratulate Jada, a three year old female Boxer, for being our July Pet of the Month. Rachael Michael is the proud caregiver and "mommy" to this beautiful furry angel. Just look at that face! You would never know that Jada suffers from severe allergies and two separate heart conditions considering how happy and healthy she looks. Kudos to her "mommy" for taking such good care of her. It looks like Jada is a big fan of the Flying Basset Super Hero treats and takes long luxurious bubble baths in our shampoo as well! We think you are the perfect pooch for our July Pet of the Month Jada. Your friends at Flying Basset love you and wish you the best!

Chewy

Okay, so we all know Oklahoma City Oklahoma is the second largest city in the continental United States based on geographical size. The population just keeps on growing too.  With the mild climate and an average temperature of 60F/15C we all know why. With a smile like Chewy's we think he agrees!  Chewy has a fun loving personality and lives to keep his caregivers, Jennifer and Ted Ethier laughing.  At ten months old Chewy is most adorable and the happiest pooch on the block.  There was really no contest.  Chewy is our Flying Basset June Pet of the Month.  Please join us in congratulating this furry little friend.
May 2011

Bella

Bella is a six year old Golden Lab who lives in Scotland, Maryland. It comes to no surprise that her caregiver Craig lives on the water so Bella can do what she does best. Do you really have to ask? She is a Golden Lab after all. Bella loves to spend most of her time swimming and fishing. Of course she will settle for playing ball or going on road trips with Daddy too. Bella is quite the intelligent pooch with the ability to recognize words. Some of her favorites are swim, fish, boat, truck, ice cream, stick and ball. I don't know about you but all of that sounds good to me! We think you are beautiful and smart Bella.
April 2011

Chubbzie Wubbzie

Chubbzie Wubbzie is a three month old Blue Pitt who enjoys spending time with his care givers Maria and Daisy. Maria and Daisy are the Granddaughter's of Felicia Urrabazo, the proud Grandmother who submitted Chubbzie Wubbzie's photo. Playing with toys and long walks with the girls are among Chubbzie Wubbzie's favorite ways to spend time. When we saw his sweet little face with those perky ears and soft almond-shaped eyes there was no contest. He was it! We think you will agree. Chubbzie Wubbzie is the Flying Basset Pet of the Month! We love you Chubbzie Wubbzie! We wish you all the health and happiness possible!

Oliver

Oliver, a Bishon Frise, has lived with us for nearly 3 years.  He was 10 months old when we rescued him and, as you can see, he has thrived with love, attention and good food.  Oliver is a GREAT companion and very smart.  If dogs can have a sense of humor, then he is Jack Benny reincarnated! He resides in Richland, MI, with his "Mama" and her truck driver husband.

Bo

This is 'Bo,' short for Boregard.  He lives way out in the country in South Texas.  He was named after the Bloodhound on the old TV Show, Hee-Haw.  He will be 2 years old in May of 2011.  Bo recently had knee surgery and is on supplements to help his joints stay mobile!  He LOVES to play in the water down in the creek and was rolling in the sand in his picture!  Bo also 'talks' a lot... he knows how to 'speak' and has the most gorgeous howl - especially when he wants your attention!  When he's all clean after his bath he is the best cuddler on the couch with all his wrinkles and looooong ears to pet!

Chelsea

My name is Chelsea, named after my Dad's favorite place, Chelsea, London. I'm what is called a Poochon 'cause I'm a Bichon Frise and Toy Poodle mix. I'm about 2 1/2 years old now and I live in Marin County, California with my Mom and Dad. As you can see in this photo, I'm your typical girl -- I love to dress up, especially on occasions and to be photographed. Even though my Halloween costume this year is a jail bird, the real truth of the matter is I'm all about snuggles and kisses. One of my favorite games is playing "go find it". My Mom shows me what she is going to hide and then calls me into a room where I have to find the object. It can get pretty tricky at times but I almost always find it wherever it is! Best of all is riding in the car -- up on my car seat all strapped in, I love having my ears blowing in the wind! Wheeeeeeeeeee.
September 2010

Molly

Molly lives in Mobile, Al. But because of job changes for Molly's "Mom", Kathey, Molly travels from Mobile, Al to Columbus, Ms every week. She is getting in her car seat to travel back to Mobile. Molly has brought a lot of joy to "great grandparents" in Columbus. Molly has also become a great traveling companion for the 4+ hour trip.
August 2010

Taz

My name is Taz and I am a 1 1/2 year old Chiquaqua. I'm not fond of water but because I live near Topsail Beach in Hampstead, NC and my family loves the ocean, I am having to get used to it. I do love to run in circles in the sand and.....well, just about everywhere, including around the cat and the furniture in the house!

Bailey, FL

Bailey was adopted as a stray from a local animal shelter called Wisker's Friends in the Florida panhandle. Bailey was found wandering the streets and Janet picked Bailey up from the road along with two other siblings, and saved her life. All three pups are safely in the hands of loving new homes. Bailey is a chocolate lab mix, very smart, loves to play fetch and brings the ball back again and again as she loves to play. Bailey is very friendly, very photogenic and an all around joy to be around. She is the first one to greet you at the door when you come home and gives out a fair share of kisses each day. Bailey now calls the Wacissa Manor farm home and has the run of most of the 30 acres and is enjoying life with her three siblings, Spencer, Tracy and Kona. All are rescues from the streets and have made themselves into a fabulous family. Bailey loves the Flying Basset Super Hero treats and hopes to become a super hero dog when she grows up. Bailey also enjoys the No Fleas! Spray as the Florida soil has to hold the most fleas, however No Fleas! keeps them away. Thanks Flying Basset for your wonderful products!

December 2009

Yoshi

Here is Yoshi.  He was adopted June 2008 from Best Friends.  Apparently he was found running on the highway in Denver, on 3 good legs.  He was picked up by a kind woman, who took him to the pound, thinking the owners would find and pick him up.  No one ever came.  The technician at the pound felt so sorry for him, having 3 good legs, being a senior at approximately 11 years old and weighing only 4 pounds that she took him home and posted him on the Best Friends website.  When I saw Yoshi, I knew he was the perfect dog for us.  He has been a blessing, although the profile said he loves being around cats.  Not!  Yoshi is constantly harassing our 15 pound cat, but I think the cat thinks it is fun.  What a houseful!
November 2009

Belley , CA

I adopted Belley from the SPCA 5 years ago, and she is going on 10 years old, a ripe old age for a Basset Hound. Belle loves belly rubs, cookies, sniffing everything, her adopted little sister, Daisy, howling and most of all, making sure everyone knows she’s boss!
charlie October 2009

Seca, Lancaster, CA

She is a Britney spaniel-beagle mix that was abandoned near Arroyo Seco, CA. When we found her she was starving and had severe wounds all over her body from animal attacks. When we first got her she was about 8 months old and so timid that if you even looked at her she would “pittle” herself. It was so sad! It has taken us two years to build her confidence up, and today I am happy to report that she is a healthy, confident dog. I also have chickens, and she occupies most of her time staring at them…possibly imagining a chicken dinner? I don’t know, but she is absolutely fascinated by birds. Her favorite activities include: cuddling with my 20 lb. cat “Trout,” hiking in the mountains and stealing the covers at night. Since I only just finished college, she used to go with me to class. I was lucky enough to have an office on campus because I taught courses there, and she had quite the following. There were people who would come by my office daily, just to say hello to “the little red dog.” She is definitely a people pleaser, and I am lucky to have her.
September 2009

Sir Charles Harrington

This is Sir Charles Harrington. He is a five-year-old beagle. When I got him, he was a very frightened skiddish two-year-old abused and neglected dog. But over the last few years he has definitely come out of his shell! He is extremely mild-mannered, loves to lounge around and rarely barks or bays. He enjoys going for walks and playing with his stuffed giraffe Kyle. He has become so popular in the neighborhood that we get stopped numerous times a week on our daily walks. Children run over to pet him and adults ask questions about him and tell me how "handsome" he is. He is truly a special and very loved dog.

Homer J. Simpson, Lancaster, CA

His Name is Homer J. Simpson. He is a Sheppard/Pit-bull mix. Homer is 5 years old and was born on 10/31/04, on Halloween night. He loves to chill in his pool, instead of my gigantic pool. He loves to chase cats, play with the water hose and scare the mailman and FedEx guy. He is the protector of the house. He will attack on command and does not take crap from anybody, but he is also the sweetest and smartest dog I have ever seen. He looks after his sibling’s, Odie Simpson and Roxy Simpson. They are both Pure Breed miniature Dachshunds. He will not let anybody mess with them and one time, Homer saved Roxy when she fell into the Pool. He jumped in and pushed her towards the steps so she could get out. You can call him a SUPERHERO, as he loves the Flying Bassets Super Hero Treats. He eats them every day along with my other two pups. Homer is not just a dog, but part of the family. We love him very much.

Kylie, Valencia, CA

Hi, my name is Kylie. I am about 7 month’s old right now. My mom rescued me in front of a Kmart when I was only about 6 or 7 weeks old. I was mal nutrition and scared of everything, even my own shadow. My mom started feeding me lots of fresh organic meats and veggies along with rich EFA oils and nutritional complex vitamins and minerals. O boy I just love feeding time. Before I knew it, I was gaining weight, had tons of energy and never felt starved. I love being around people now and some of my favorite hobbies are tearing apart all of my stuffed animals, and going to the park and running around with all the other dogs. Thanks to flying Basset, I will continue to have a healthy, long, happy life.

Charlie, Valencia, CA

Hi, my name is Charlie. I am a pure bread female Teacup poodle. I will be turning 13 this November and I do not feel a day past 2. For the past 7 months, my mom has put me on a very delicious balanced diet. I get fresh raw veggies and steamed organic chicken, pork and beef. She mixes in a delicious blend of Flying Bassett EFA oils, CoQ 10 for my brain function, and Nutritional Complex for my over balance and well being. The flavor is great and the benefits are even more amazing. Since I am getting a little up there in age and I exercise regularly I sometimes get a little stiff in my joints. That is when I get join recovery treats. Yum yum! Anyways, I live the life and hopefully thanks to flying Basset will have many more years to come.

Rocky April 2009

Stinky, San Fernando, CA

It was like a streak of white lighting as I looked to see this white fuzzy fur running across the street right in front of me, and wearing a pink tutu no less. She narrowly missed the Semi's last eighteen wheel as I continued watching thru my rear view mirror. I couldn't resist turning around to find her. First flee bitten, dirty, and skinny yet never shy was she when accepted into her loving home. Now she and the cat play tag all day long, not a worry in the word that anything could go wrong. Thank goodness now, I think our dog understands, English to the point of "NO POTTY INSIDE". The best new family member we could have be, passed right before my eyes just before XMAS Eve.
Rocky March 2009

Yoji, Valencia, CA

Yoji was purchased from a breeder in Lucerne Valley, CA. At 8 weeks old he was the best Christmas present our family ever received. He is an energetic pug that provides hours of comic relief for our family. At a mere 2 pounds when we bought him, he has grown into a 13 pound ball of craziness! He loves carrots and treats of any kind as most pugs do! He is in the process of training and is the star pupil in his class. He is snuggly and loveable and is good for our stress levels. Yoji means 4 character in Japanese and his name is true in meaning. In a family of 3 characters, he is without a doubt our 4th character!.

Stevie - Chatsworth, CA.
We rescued Stevie from the Pet Adoption Fund in Canoga Park about 6 months ago -- he's gained a few pounds since he's been with us -- eating everything in sight.  Stevie craves attention (what dog doesn't) -- he's also a little aggressive when playing with the family's stuffed toys, loves to steal the spotlight & of course, take long walks & jogs.
